This was a team project all the way. Our objective was to design a giveaway piece for distribution to graphic designers attending the HOW Conference in Las Vegas that showcased and utilized a major paper company’s fine papers.

Our solution features Las Vegas throughout history in three books titled “Old,” “Then” and “Now” that span time from 1.7 billion years ago through modern day. To see everything, you need to explore the pieces, undoing, opening and turning over. It’s a very tactile operation and allows the viewer to understand the papers and how they can be used.

We art directed all photos in and around Las Vegas, including The Strip and beautiful Red Rock Canyon. The fronts of the books feature photos and the backs have a timeline of interesting historical facts relevant to each period. The books are contained in a slipcase and bound with a paper band. Each piece is die-cut, embossed, or debossed, and printed in six colors, based on its “history” and the types of papers used.
