Sometimes a dream project comes along and this is definitely one of them. Las Vegas-based JD Stairs is a builder of custom stairs, railings, doors, gates, fencing, cladding, gabion walls, structural steel and other striking architectural focal points. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail is phenomenal.

For nearly 30 years, JD Stairs had been so busy building that they had not given their brand much attention. That’s when Canyon Creative came in. We talked extensively with the owners about their goals, demographics, hopes, dreams and established that they wanted to target more of the luxury market, including architects, builders, interior designers and discerning property owners.

Canyon started with a color exploration for the logo and brand, created a variety of taglines, then developed the logo, business cards and stationery package.

Next, it was time to outfit their staff in t-shirts and button-up shirts to give them a more professional appearance when going out on jobs or meeting with potential clients. This was followed by building and window signage and sleek new vehicle graphics.

We created two kinds of brochures for them: a simple and cost-effective tri-fold brochure for trade shows and to use as a mailer and a high-end brochure to share with certain clients to create a “wow” moment. The “wow” brochure was designed in stair-step fashion – to subliminally take viewers on a journey up a staircase. It features a metallic cover and sturdy brown dividers that suggest they are, as their tagline says, Metal + Wood Artisans.

Their old website had seen better days and it was time to create something that reflected where they wanted to go in terms of clients and projects. We analyzed the old website and determined much of it was redundant, featured bad photos and didn’t speak to the incredible work JD Stairs does. The language wasn’t quite right either, so we wrote copy that was more upscale and painted pictures.

Starting from scratch, we created a site that welcomes visitors to a homepage with full-screen photos that rotate and call-to-action buttons that redirect to specific pages within the site.

Everything JD Stairs builds is visually appealing and they have pictures to prove it. We leveraged those photos in a website gallery divided by type of project. We also created featured project pages that showcase custom homes and estates where JD Stairs had a great deal to do with the overall craftsmanship.

In 2022, we started conversations about producing a video that showcases company history and all the mind-blowing work JD Stairs does. Working in collaboration with the client, we wrote the script, sourced the video production company and art directed the shoot on location at the JD Stairs shop and at the most expensive home in Las Vegas. We were fortunate that the spectacular location was Blue Heron’s Vegas Modern 001. This $25 million, 15,000-square-foot home was the perfect backdrop to feature some of JD Stairs’ most innovative work to date.
