Nevada Community Foundation Brand Identity Refresh
As one of the fastest-growing community foundations in the United States, Nevada Community Foundation (NCF) analyzed their existing brand identity, website and collateral materials. It was determined the time had come to create something contemporary that reflects what they stand for now.
NCF’s vision: “To provide a clear and tailored path to philanthropy, creating a ripple effect of positive change. Growth, innovation and a brighter future.”
Canyon Creative was tasked with creating a new, bold brand that encapsulates everything NCF believes in and provides to their donors and the charities they serve.
We started by presenting our vision for the logo, fonts and color palettes. The logo is minimalistic and modern, conveying a sense of trustworthiness and professionalism. The fonts are simple, clean and easy to read. Nothing is overly embellished.
The primary color palette features a pure white and three complementary shades of blue. Blue is considered calming, soothing and friendly, and more importantly, is considered a trustworthy color that helps companies capitalize on creating a positive image. The secondary palette, designed to be used sparingly, includes orange and green, representing energy, joy, new beginnings and growth. Those colors are also powerful and attention-grabbing.
From there, we worked on representing the brand identity within a new website. The navigation is designed to take the viewer on a simple journey where they can find what they are searching for quickly and make decisions based on the knowledge provided. There are many calls-to-action and intuitive, concise copy throughout that offers the viewer options of what they can do along with detailed explanations of what NCF offers.
The photos, all stock photography, were chosen for their bright, light-filled imagery – with a subtle focus on the color blue. A diverse range of people are represented in settings like gardens and homes, to emphasize how down-to-earth and ready to listen NCF is. There are business location photos showing that NCF is professional and willing to meet personally with the people they serve. Everyone looks happy and confident – which reflects back a sense of joy and positive impact that giving can have on a donor and how NCF can make that happen.
Print and digital collateral were next up. Canyon Creative took the branding to the next level with new business cards, letterhead, envelopes, a digital email signature and marketing materials that can be used as templates when NCF wants to update or add pieces.

The website messaging was boiled down to: Work Together. Draw Together. Live Together. On the surface, these phrases may seem innocuous…but, that’s where the copy takes over. Each line is explained utilizing LGA standards, with a significance that expresses what is meaningful to LGA in context.
The website features their projects to not only showcase the beauty of the spaces, but to also explain their rationale and how they came to create each one. It’s all about the “why” of what they do.
